Markelsheimer Wine Touring

During our week-long stay in Germany with the Lanig family, we had our first wine tour of a local German winery. The main varietals produced or Silvaner, Mueller-Thurgau, and Riesling. They were all quite good. You may notice a fossil on the bottle. That’s due to the fossil-rich soil in the region, which is indicative of an ancient sea or river bed. The conditions made by this prehistoric water site are apparently conducive to wine production.
